Dr. Jeffery C. Mungar, Optometrist

Dr. Mungar grew up not far from Oakville and realized while still in university that he wanted to settle in Oakville. Upon graduation from University of Waterloo he opened his practice. Within a few years of practice, Dr. Mungar was elected to serve a term as a Director on the Ontario Association of Optometrists.

Being interested in new technologies has led to many opportunities for Dr. Mungar to work closely with contact lens manufacturers. He has been involved in research on behalf of contact lens manufacturers and also contributed in pre-launch testing of new products.

Dr. Mungar speaks regularly to other eye care professionals on behalf of contact lens companies to help them introduce new products. He also enjoys the benefit of being among the first in Canada to offer these new products to his patients.

Dr. Mungar enjoys providing eye care to his patients and this is obvious when you meet him in his office. The full scope of his practice provides challenges as he sees patients of all ages every work day, and not only diagnosing their individual cases, but prescribing treatment options ranging from spectacles or contact lenses to medical treatment or surgical referrals.

Dr. Mungar completed an intensive therapeutic program and was certified to practice medical optometry as soon as the legislation was passed allowing Ontario optometrists to prescribe medicine for eye disease. Dr. Mungar is very much a hands-on person and has had his own spectacle lab for many years so that he can produce most glasses he dispenses right in his office. He enjoys producing high quality eyeglasses in a quick time frame for his patients. Dr. Mungar truly loves being an optometrist and is happy to live with his wife and children just a short distance from his office.
